Reverend Donald Scott passed away on Monday Evening, July 24. Please
keep his wife Joyce, his large family, and his many, many other loved
ones in your prayers. We will be forwarding further information as we
receive it.

FROM John King~
Margaret Lucile "Sully" Sullins Alsobrook, 81, passed away Tuesday,
July 11. Known for her outstanding fund-raising ability, she used her
talents to benefit her church, Bellaire UMC, helping to raise more than
$800,000. She also served in various capacities for the Conference and on
the Board of Lon Morris. Her services were held on July 16. In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made to the Bellaire UMC Property
Endowmend Fund, or a charity of your choice. Please keep her family in your
prayers.

The burned cottage replacement in Burrell Boom Belize is slow going.
The cottage is where the head master for the Methodist school lives.
The Church there has spent part of its insurance proceeds on the slab Our
construction manager, Pyppa Johnson from Windsor Village UMC, is on
site and ready to coordinate teams or individuals. WE NEED BRICK LAYERS

THANKS AND FAREWELL
I am grateful to God for the privilege of serving in the Texas Annual
Conference the past 33 years with committed laity, staff and clergy at
High Island, Edom, Klein, DeKalb, Atascocita, Bellaire and, for the
past 10 years, at Marvin in Tyler. Sharon and I will be moving to
Colorado next week where I will become the pastor of Trinity UMC in downtown
Denver, the oldest church in the Mile High City, effective August 1. We
have been blessed by your friendship and support and will miss Texas
and the Texas Conference. We ask only for your prayers as we go west to

recovery program meets every Monday evening at 6:00 pm in the Prayer Room of
First UMC, Henderson (204 North Marshall). Anyone seeking God’s grace
in assisting them to overcome life struggles is encouraged to come.
Are you a Veteran working to put the past behind you? Are you wanting to
take control of weight issues - from obesity to anorexia? Do you, or
someone you love, struggle with dependency issues? This group provides
the means to praise God through a recovery program that seeks to work
through the hurts, hang-ups and habits of life. The evening opens with
songs of praise and prayer, moving into small group opportunities. For

Our women's choir, The St. Cecilia Women's Ensemble, would like to
donate their gently used choir robes to a choir that has lost theirs due to
the hurricanes or is in need of robes for some other reason. We have 50
to 55 robes that are royal blue, white surplices and are available
immediately. If the recipient choir is located in the area near Houston, we
may want to arrange to deliver the robes ourselves and perhaps sing at
