________________________PRAYER CONCERNS__________________________

FROM Gordon Gnipp Giddings FUMC -
I just received an urgent request from my stepson for prayer for his
sister-in law Martina Iglesias. She went into the hospital in San Antonio
Sunday evening with severe abdominal pain. They gave her two units of
blood and did emergency abdominal surgery to clear a blockage in her
intestine. She seemed to be doing better until this morning when they
found her on the floor beside her bed not breathing and she ad no vital
signs. They established an airway and recessitated her and gave her two
more units of blood. She is currently in critical condition and the
family has been called in. My stepson is under conviction and has never
asked for prayer, but I just got off the phone with him and he was
requesting prayer - "all we can get." So, please pray for Marty and all the
family and also that God will manifest his presence so all will know of
his hand. As always, I pray that His will be done. Thank you in Jesus'
name. Amen.

FROM Kenneth Reid - FUMC Chandler
Update on Larry Grubbs. Doing well enough to go home Tuesday. Will
recuperate for six weeks before returning to teach at Grambling State
University.

Holy Conversations: Leadership, Money, and Ministry
On March 6-7, 2006, the Texas Methodist Foundation is hosting a
state-wide conference for United Methodist clergy, laity, and institutional
leaders at the Omni Hotel in downtown Austin. This two-day event focuses
on a key challenge for churches and institutions: the need for a
clearly envisioned future based on an in-depth understanding of identity,
purpose and community. John Wimmer of the Lilly Endowment will communicate
the crucial importance of leaders capable of shaping diverse
individuals into spiritually coherent communities. Demographer Steve Murdock will
paint a picture of the population we will be serving in the years to
come. And Alice Mann and Dr. Gil Rendle, Alban Institute Senior
Consultants and Dr. Roy Shilling, President Emeritus of Southwestern University,
will provide theoretical and practical ideas about strategic planning
in churches and institutions. Other sessions will help us explore how we
can most effectively link financial resources with our plans for
future ministry.
The program offers something for every participant. Plenary sessions
feature speakers of the highest caliber, including Bishop Janice Riggle
Huie, addressing themes that affect the entire United Methodist
community. Complementing these sessions are separate workshops for churches
and institutions. All activities will communicate the message that by
strengthening our leadership and connections to each other and to our
common tradition, we are strengthening our ability to bring the hope of
Christ to those in need.

Texas Methodist Foundation’s website: www.tmf-fdn.org.
