Update...Our friend Darel Palm had his biopsy for prostrate cancer. It
showed an extremely large prostrate, but won't have the results in for
another week. Please keep him and his wife Jean in your prayers. We
personally have experienced what prayer can do. God hears us!

Bill Delchamps, father of the Rev. Mary Magnusson (Kingwood), passed
away. Services will be held in Mobile, Alabama on Wednesday, March 15,
2006. The Pinecrest Funeral Home in Mobile is handling the arrangements.

Houston~
St. Paul’s UMC, Houston, is hosting a Lenten retreat for women from 7
p.m. Friday, March, 17, to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 18.
The retreat will follow the order of the monastic hours as
represented in the book, "Music of Silence: A Sacred Journey through the Hours
of the Day" by David Steindal Rast, who is a Benedictine monk, and
Sharon Labell. Specific monastic hours will be observed in worship services
and reflections. Participants also will prepare meals together and
provide their own table service, including napkins.
Two spaces for personal reflection will be in the Activity Center
during the retreat: St. Paul’s labyrinth and Psal.li, a textile
installation by Thomas Hardin, a Rice University graduate student in
architecture and printmaking.
The $30 fee will cover breakfast and lunch. For more information,

documentary on child abuse prevention will be broadcast on Channel 8,
Houston PBS, Thursday, April 13, 7:00 PM, "Brutal Truth: Protecting the
Family from Violence." National and local experts filmed in the
documentary will bring new insights on how parents can better handle the
stressful times. Topics such as temper tantrums, discipline versus punishment,
bullying, inappropriate touching, neglect, self-esteem, and kids
raising kids will be covered.

starting new DISCIPLE Bible Study in Prison programs. You may have read in
the UMC Reporter that offering a DISCIPLE class in Prison has the power

The First United Methodist Church in Daingerfield, Texas is searching
for a Summer Youth Director. Daingerfield, located 40 miles north of
Longview, is the county seat of Morris County and has about 2,500
residents. Daingerfield FUMC offers a full summer of activities for a group of
about 20 middle school and high school students. A candidate for our
Summer Youth Director would have two years of college. The position is
open from the end of May until mid-August. A weekly salary and a
