My wife talked with Joe Harris' wife last night and Joe is at home in
Oklahoma and doing very well. In fact, he is almost fully recovered, and
appreciates the prayers and concern.

Prayers are requested for Don Scott and family. Don is at Baylor
University in Dallas and is associate pastor at Carthage First.

__________________________DEATHS/FUNERALS________________________

FROM Cheryl W. Phillips and Nancy Hinshaw, Bishop's Office~
Mrs. Dorothy Hayes, wife of Dr. Robert E. Hayes Sr.(Retired) mother to
Bishop Robert E. Hayes, Jr, and foster mother to Dr. J.D. Phillips of
Westbury UMC, died late Thursday night after a long illness. Services
will be Tuesday morning, July 25, 2006 at Westbury UMC in Houston.
Viewing will be held from 8:30-9:30 am at the church, with the funeral
service to follow at 10:00 am. Bishop Alfred Norris, our former Bishop, will
be delivering the eulogy.
Please keep Dr. Hayes Sr, Bishop Bob, J.D. and the entire family in
prayer.
Contributions in memory of Mrs. Hayes may be made to the American
Heart Association in Houston.

The burned cottage replacement in Burrell Boom Belize is slow going.
The cottage is where the head master for the Methodist school lives.
The Church there has spent part of its insurance proceeds on the slab Our
construction manager, Pyppa Johnson from Windsor Village UMC, is on
site and ready to coordinate teams or individuals. WE NEED BRICK LAYERS

The Division of Single Adult Ministry is offering a Singles Leadership
Training Event led by Terry Hershey on Sat., Aug. 5, at Memorial Drive
UMC, 12955 Memorial Dr., Houston 77079. The seminar will be held from
10-2, with sign-in beginning at 9:30 a.m. Lunch and snacks will be
provided. The cost is only $20 per person. Singles leaders from across

Good Shepherd UMC in the Central North District is looking for a
full-time Director of Children's Ministry to work with nursery age through
5th grade children. The candidate must be a Christian with excellent
administrative and communication skills and a heart for helping children
love the Lord.
The qualified candidate would join a committed staff of servants,
including full-time youth, administrative, and music staff. GSUMC has a
congregation of 900 members and averages 600 members in 4 weekly

Our CHINESE FELLOWSHIP group at Westchase UMC (Westheimer at Gessner)
is in need of a small spinet piano for our singing and worship in our
Fellowship Meetings. Anyone having a piano in their home or church that
would like to donate to this growing and exciting ministry, please call

Our women's choir, The St. Cecilia Women's Ensemble, would like to
donate their gently used choir robes to a choir that has lost theirs due to
the hurricanes or is in need of robes for some other reason. We have 50
to 55 robes that are royal blue, white surplices and are available
immediately. If the recipient choir is located in the area near Houston, we
may want to arrange to deliver the robes ourselves and perhaps sing at
