________________________PRAYER CONCERNS__________________________

FROM Donna Alexander, Houston North
Received from Rev. Bruce Hay, 1st UMC, Huntsville
Larry Grubbs, former pastor of 1st UMC, Huntsville, who now resides
in Monroe, LA, had a heart attack and has undergone bypass surgery.
Updates on his condition as they are received.

FROM Rev. Vivian Kinnear
Dr. Dan Hannon is out of surgery and in recovery. Please pray for his
continued recovery. The doctor found that his only kidney was in "too
much trouble" to save any portion of it, so they removed the entire
kidney. The doctor also believes that all the cancer was removed. This will
be confirmed by test results expected on Monday. He will be on dialysis
until the time he is able to receive a kidney transplant.
Thank you on behalf of the Hannon family for all your prayers and
words of comfort.

FROM Gus & Jackie Browning
Retired minister Sam Duree was honored Monday night in Brenham as
Washington County's "Man of the Year." He was presented with a crystal bowl.
The following are excerpts from the Brenham Banner-Press:
Duree, whose recognition as "Man of the Year" was announced by 2004
recipient Steve James, was pastor at First United Methodist Church here
from 1978-84.
He founded two Methodist churches and has always been involved in
the church's Mission Outreach.
Duree was founding director and senior chaplain of the Houston
International Seafarer's Center from 1969-74 and was district superintendent
for dozens of Methodist churches in the greater Houston area before
retiring in 1996.
After retiring, Duree made 14 mission trips to Russia ..., working
in orphanages and helping start the Russian United Methodist Church,
said James.
Duree has been active in local organizations as well...
Duree is also noted for his handmade birdhouses, which he builds in
his garage, said James. "He has been known to frequently donate them to
fundraisers. In the last few years, this one-man cottage industry has
raised and donated $65,000 to a scholarship fund to a Methodist seminary
in Moscow that trains new ministers," said James.
