__________________________PRAYER CONCERNS_______________________

From East District~
Prayers are requested for Claud & Dolly Taylor. Claud is pastor at
Allison Chapel. Dolly is scheduled for surgery today at Memorial Hospital,
Nacogdoches. Prayers are also requested for their grandson and his
wife, Michael & Kelly Fuller, and their newborn baby. The baby is having
difficulities breathing.
Prayers are requested for Rev. David Avis' wife, Mary Avis, who is
recovering at home from surgery. David is pastor at San Augustine UMC.

FROM Stewart Memorial UMC~
Susie Teddlie, long time member of Stewart Memorial UMC in Buffalo,
could not make the mission trip to Russia due to illness. She has been
diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas and is scheduled for surgery in
Temple on Friday, July 21 @ 7:30 AM.
We ask that you keep Susie, her family and the doctors in your prayers.

The Division of Single Adult Ministry is offering a Singles Leadership
Training Event, led by Terry Hershey, on Sat., Aug. 5, at Memorial
Drive UMC, 12955 Memorial Dr., Houston 77079. The seminar will be held
from 10-2, with sign-in beginning at 9:30 a.m. Lunch and snacks will be
provided. The cost is only $20 per person. Singles leaders from across

ENGAGED ENCOUNTER - UNITED METHODIST Weekend Aug. 25-27, 2006 in
Houston - for all engaged and newly-married couples, and couples
considering engagement. The event is an approved program of the General Board of
Discipleship of The UMC and of the Family Ministries Committee of the
Texas Annual Conference. It meets the recommendation of the 2004
General Conference Resolution #27 regarding nurturing marriage and family.

3-night family retreat focusing on the joys and challenges of growing as a
family. The event will be hosted at Lakeview Methodist Conference

L.C.D.C., Christian Counselor, Speaker, and Author will lead the family and
adult sessions. Meredith Sholars will lead the youth events. Many

SPECIAL REQUEST: Some of the inmates from the Gist State Jail-Beaumont
came to us on behalf of a very soon-to-be released 65-year old that is
penniless and has no home or family. His name is Clifton Shetley
#01284441--House C1-46, and he will be released in Beaumont. Arrangements
have been made for him to stay 2 nights at the local Salvation Army. He
needs transportation to the Social Security Office on Hwy 69 to register
for the money he earned in past employment. Hopefully, some church that
has not participated in Christian action will help this man. The
churches with RJM committees are pretty well loaded with viable projects.
