Condolences

Please remember the following Texas Conference families in their time of bereavement:

Vanity Lazard, Juanita Jackson’s daughter, was killed in an automobile accident Saturday, October 14. Memorial service: Friday, October 20, 11 a.m., Trinity East UMC, Houston.

Mrs. Madlyn Hunter, Rev. Cynthia Hunter’s mother, Metropolitan UMC, Conroe, passed away Saturday, October 14, around 1:00 am.

Prayer Requests

Paltha Warren, Rev. John Warren’s mother, ( St. John 's UMC, Rockdale , Texas , West District) was placed in hospice care October 13. Resident, Happy Harbor, La Porte ; Member, Jacinto City UMC.

Rev. Tommy Earl Burton, Reeves Chapel UMC, Pittsburg , had health issues, an MRI and was told everything was clear about a month ago. Monday, October 16, he followed up with a Neurologist who found a small suspicious grey area. An EEG will be done next week and an MRI has been scheduled for November 6.

Rev. Brenda Lucas, St. Mark’s UMC, Marshall, is home recuperating after her recent spine surgery.

Rev. Wayne Calder, Tuesday, October 17, Stint/catheter for dialysis was removed, ending the long road of recovery from kidney failure. Thank you deeply for your notes, prayers and care in this life changing experience. There is no doubt that prayer produced two miracles - that I am alive and that I have regained full use of my kidneys. It has been a treasure for me to have your prayers.

David Neef & Jennifer Ross will marry Saturday, October 21, Walden Yacht Club, Montgomery , Texas .

Mr. Kakinga Rehani (65), died suddenly Tuesday, October 10. Funeral arrangements pending.

A refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo, he and his nine grandchildren escaped, made it safely to the USA , celebrated and thanked God for their arrival in America two weeks ago. His wife and children had been brutally and savagely killed in his presence in the Congo . He leaves behind his grandchildren in a two-bedroom apartment. Help is needed. Contact Rev. Prayer Requests

Mrs. Pat Pierce, surviving spouse of Rev. Ben Allen Pierce, recently had a stroke. She is recuperating at her daughter’s home in Dallas , Texas .

Rev. Brenda Lucas, St. Mark’s, Marshall , Texas , had surgery on her spine, Monday, October 9. Longview Regional, Rm. 242. From all indications, the surgery went well.

Rev. Rusty Watkins, Holy Trinity UMC, Central South District, has been admitted to Methodist Hospital , Dunn Tower , Rm. 658 with respiratory problems.

Addie Nicole was born to Rev. Tommy & Bethany Williams, October 3, 5:33 p.m., 8 lbs., 11 oz., 20" long.

Condolences

Please remember the following Texas Conference families in their time of bereavement:

Huebert C. Stell, Rev. William Stell’s father (Associate, St. Luke's UMC, Houston), passed away Friday, September 29. A memorial service was held Saturday, September 30, First UMC, Nash, Texas . Rev. Art Parra (Hooks UMC) officiated.

Kayleb Ard, 18 years old, First UMC, Cleveland , Texas , died this past week. Funeral will be Friday, October 6. Kayleb was a very active member of our youth ministry and will be greatly missed.

Sara, the granddaughter of Rev. Bart and Kay Reddoch (Moore & Wallace UMC’s), was still-born on Monday, October 2. The cause of death appears to be loss of oxygen. The umbilical cord was wrapped around Sara’s neck. Pray for her parents, Josh and Kristi. Kristi and Sara shared the same birthday. Services are pending in Austin .

Prayer Requests

Katherine Wende, Dr. Stephen P. Wende’s mother, (First UMC, Houston , Texas ) fell, broke her arm and separated her shoulder at her home in Salado , Texas . The doctors were unable to repair the damage through manual manipulation and casting. Surgery was scheduled for Wednesday, October 4.

Irma Cauley, Rev. Carey Cauley’s wife ( Leona Circuit), St. Joseph 's Hospital, Bryan , Texas .

Several problems including high blood sugar.

Rev. Gary Clark, (First UMC, Marlin & Reagan UMC) had a heart catheterization & stint last week.

I found out that there are some partial scholarships offered by the Texas Conference for the Mount Sequoyah Singles Retreat! I’ve talked with the retreat registrar who has agreed to guarantee the early bird registration rate of $99 since the conference scholarships have been offered! What a deal!
